Watts Bar Dam and Lock from the south

We provide unique pontoon boat excursions on Watts Bar Lake. We love sharing the water with others so you too can enjoy boating on watts bar lake, especially for a sunset campfire tour. Watts Bar Lake is one of the south’s largest lakes, at 72 miles long and covering 39,000 acres or 61 square miles of water at summer pool with 771 miles of shoreline. There are some great restaurants available on the lake as well if you want to stop for dinner during your full day cruise. On half day excursions we recommend dinner at Nick’s Lakeside Grill after the cruise. Parking is available at the marina located at 2109 New Lake Rd, Spring City, TN 37381.

Tennessee River Lock tour thru Watts bar to Chickamauga Lake is also offered.

Watts Bar Dam Lock Tour:

Embark on an adventure of discovery and excitement with our exclusive Lock Tour aboard a captained pontoon boat. Prepare to be mesmerized as we navigate through the majestic waters of Watts Bar Lake and delve into the heart of the impressive Watts Bar Dam.

🚀 Cruise Through the Locks: Experience the thrill of passing through the lock system firsthand as we navigate through the towering gates of Watts Bar Dam. Feel the adrenaline rush as the water levels rise and fall up to 70ft, unlocking new perspectives at every turn.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ Fun for the Whole Family: Whether you’re a history enthusiast, nature lover, or adventure seeker, our Lock Tour promises something for everyone as you enjoy boating on watts bar lake! Bring your family, friends, or colleagues up to 6 total for an outing they’ll never forget.

We’ll take off out of spring city marina harbor and stroll thru the bay meandering thru the islands as the engine warms up. Then we can motor to dickeys bluff where cliff jumping is optional. We’ll be about half way to the dam/lock as we approach the main channel of the Tennessee river observing wildlife along the way. I’ll radio or call the lockmaster to check status of locking through. If we can’t lock thru right away we can explore a large cove right off the main channel. It’s about a 15-20 mile ride round trip depending on our route. Locking thru watts bar dam to Chickamauga Lake is a 65-70 water level drop depending on what the lake level is. Being in the concrete chamber is a cool experience. It takes about 45 minutes to change lakes. It’s like a giant water elevator. You’ll see the nuclear plants cooling towers up close from the water. The sunset ride back into spring city marina is breath taking. This is a 3 to 4 hour tour.

Suggested items to bring include hat, sunglasses, appropriate attire for the days weather(hint dress for the Watts Bar lake water temperature) and a change of clothes just in case you get wet.
